Daniel Negreanu is one, even the poker player’s most respected tour and when he says something, he’s often right. This time he attacks the coverage of the WSOP 2010 pokernews which holds exclusive.

Daniel began his remarks by stating: If pokernews busy just to update the chip count without regard to reporting of hands, the result would be far better than it is today.

The business coverage of the tournament is more important and there are good and bad reporters who are often poorly paid. Until now it was a job for which few people have shown a real talent, and these people are often rewarded with just enough for food.

This is both because so many people want to work, and because news sites know they can get away with paying as little as possible to get a result. Like any business, the covers of tournament poker are expected to generate a profit, and if none is unlikely to get a correct result.

Do not be fooled, most of the media and poker exist thanks to the goodwill of online poker sites except by the direct or indirect financing of industry giants. Most poker magazines and websites you read go under in six months or less without such close ties between the media and online poker rooms.

PokerNews official supplier of coverage of the WSOP is no different from other sites. Without the online poker rooms it would not exist. The majority of company revenue comes from income from affiliation with online poker rooms.

The coverages are carried by pokernews pulling a load more to the profit and loss if an online poker room was not behind it would make a very long time that there would be more coverage on the site.

PokerNews has the exclusive contract to cover the WSOP and took great care to keep the exclusivity. The restrictions imposed on other media are very strict.

For example, it is not possible for another company to dispose of more than 3 pass media, we do not talk to limitations for the photo or video that leave no room to maneuver if you do not work for pokernews . Same for deferrals or other media can not post more than one item per hour.
Why these restrictions?

Simply because it is possible that another company could come and do a better job. Allowing another medium to show he could do better than pokernews could harm the reputation of the latter. PokerNews therefore prefers to avoid the mishap of CardPlayer has lost the contract in 2006, keeping full control over the coverage.

The work done by PokerNews WSOP since early 2010 is well below what readers might expect. However, this is not the fault of the reporters who work long hours under difficult conditions and if mistakes are made in the transcript of what actually happens, the fault lies more PokerNews they prefer to reduce the costs to increase margin. The most surprising is to see that the organizers of the WSOP to leave.

To achieve a real coverage, real teams should be established with a dedicated chip count to another to transcribe all the shots supervised by a team of editors who would control everything to get a consistent coverage. All this is not new and has already been done. You just put the resources that pokernews apparently refuses to do. The team currently in place is working hard to make half of what is done and can do the other half because it is impossible in these conditions.

To achieve a real solution would be the coverage that reduces its margin PokerNews WSOP is that spending money with a company that can do the job properly.
